Being a part of the LaPorte Service League has been a wonderfully rewarding experience for me. The programs we run truly benefit the community as a whole, but especially the children. They also foster a sense of belonging and purpose. We “quietly get things done”. And we have fun doing it! Contributing to such meaningful initiatives fills my heart with joy. The dedication of all our members, who each commit a minimum of 25 hours of service annually, is truly inspiring. Most members provide way more. This organization has allowed me to grow personally while making a positive impact in LaPorte.

Blanket Program
We make blankets for the police, child services, elementary schools and Family Advocates to provide immediate comfort and security in times of crisis or emergency.

Children’s Health & Wellbeing Initiatives
We help undertake annual eye-screening for elementary school-age children to identify potential problems early.
Our “Tooth Fairy” skit is ADA grant-funded and provides vital oral hygiene education.

Arts & Music Support
We volunteer our time on a popcorn stand as a fundraiser for LaPorte’s “Arts In The Park” events.
We provide ushers for the Community Children’s Concert.
We paint windows at a school to brighten up the winter months!

Support for Education
We provide a scholarship to qualifying high school senior students.
We offer 1:1 mentoring for younger children who need a boost.

Women & Family Support
Books & canned goods collections during the Holidays for Little Pantries and the Women’s Care Center.
Voluntary member-funded donations of diapers and wipes to the Women’s Center.

Support for Other Organizations
We lend a hand to other community groups. We help the Salvation Army fill over 800 back-pack meals a week, so that hungry children get to eat at the weekend. And we help “ring the bell” at Christmastime for the red-kettle-collection.
We help deliver Meals-On-Wheels.
We promote the arts by organizing events and workshops that encourage creativity and participation.
